Between Two Capitals:
Osh–Bishkek
You definitely don't expect to see such unexpected and ultra-concentrated beauty.

SOLD OUT
This is one of the most immersive routes through Kyrgyzstan — a great road trip across the entire country, from Osh to Bishkek. Over 11 days, we'll travel through the Pamir-Alai range, see Lenin Peak, the walnut forests of Arslanbob, Lake Sary-Chelek, the passes of the Tien Shan, and the high-altitude Lake Son-Kul.

The route follows one of the most scenic roads in the region — from the southern mountain valleys to the shores of Issyk-Kul. We'll hike through canyons and forests, live in yurts at the foot of a seven-thousand-meter peak, stay in guesthouses, and spend several days at a glamping site on the southern shore of the lake.

This journey is for those who love long roads, powerful landscapes, and want to experience Kyrgyzstan as fully as possible.

Pamir-Alai
Everyone watched Game of Thrones, right? Remember the Wall in the North? Well, it exists on this trip — and it separates Kyrgyzstan from Tajikistan. As you descend from the Taldyk Pass into the Chong-Alai Valley, you'll see an endless icy ridge stretching from west to east.
Lenin Peak
Of course, this is the key point of the south. A seven-thousand-meter peak that you can drive right up to and live beneath this giant. We'll take a walk through Onion Meadow (that's the actual name of the place), and watch and listen to the yaks. At the foot of the mountain, there's a yurt camp where we'll spend the night — elevation 3,200 meters. The conditions are simple but quite comfortable for this location.
Arslanbob
The place from which all the world’s walnuts originated — because according to legend, Alexander the Great was here, took a handful of walnuts, and carried them away. Arslanbob is famous for its walnut forests, the ethnic Uzbek village, the Babash-Ata mountain range, two waterfalls, and incredible hospitality. In Arslanbob, we’ll definitely take a walk through the walnut forests with breathtaking panoramic views.
Tuyuk and Burana Canyons
It’s so beautiful, so unexpected, so mind-blowing that by this point your jaw will simply be lying somewhere around the car floor mats. No one — absolutely no one — just you in these unreal places. Well, maybe also the most beautiful horses, cows, and sheep scattered around like sunflower seeds.
Sary-Chelek
An absolutely unreal mountain lake. The road to it will first take you across the surface of the Moon (near Tash-Kumyr), and then, after crossing a pass, New Zealand will suddenly open up before you. Such a dramatic change of landscape over such a short distance is simply impossible to imagine. In the Sary-Chelek park area, we’ll take a stunningly beautiful walk.
Toktogul Reservoir
A hidden gem of the country, even though it lies along the road. Everyone knows about Issyk-Kul, but almost no one knows about Toktogul — yet it could give a serious run for its money to almost any famous lake you know. An artificially created lake that has become a masterpiece of nature and humanity combined. A magnificent walk? Absolutely!
Naryn Canyon
An incredible drive along the longest river in Kyrgyzstan, repeatedly dammed by a cascade of hydroelectric stations, which has created a fantastic canyon that we will see with our own eyes.
Son-Kul
A piece of Tibet that has become Kyrgyzstan's calling card for several years now — and we absolutely agree. It can’t be left out. Absolute silence, serenity, and incredibly beautiful sunsets.
Canyons of the Forgotten Rivers
This place is little known to anyone — and so is the viewpoint, from which you'll have a view like a drone's. It's a real Death Valley, but right next to it is an incredibly beautiful lake — Issyk-Kul. And the best part is, we'll be on the side where no one ever goes.
Barskoon, Arabel, and Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon
If we describe this day very briefly, here's how it goes. From the sea (and Issyk-Kul really is a sea), you'll drive into Switzerland — giant spruce trees and waterfalls (that's Barskoon Gorge). Then we ascend to a high-altitude plateau at 4,000 meters (Arabel) into the glacier zone. We'll end the day in Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon — colorful mountains like those in northern Argentina or Peru.
Red Bowl of Kyzyl-Oy
A place we absolutely love, where mass tourism routes have not yet reached. We are endlessly amazed by these colorful cliffs, the fantastic Kök-Meren River, and the conglomerates of red mountain ridges. This is truly Argentina — its northern part.
Passes and Roads
The roads are one of the main attractions of this route (and of the entire country). And in our humble opinion, the Bishkek–Osh road should be on the list of the most beautiful roads in the world. Too-Ashuu and Ala-Bel — two passes, each at 3,200 meters. We'll drive over them on the very first day to see breathtaking panoramas. Then we'll be greeted by the Suusamyr Valley — the largest jailoo in Kyrgyzstan — and the Chychkan Gorge, a true Switzerland. All of this in a single day.
TRIP MAP
On this trip, we'll drive across the entire country from north to south (or in the opposite direction). And, of course, we'll see the best spots lying to the left and right of our main artery. The passes of Too-Ashuu and Arabel, Chychkan Gorge, Toktogul Reservoir, Naryn Canyon, Sary-Chelek, and Arslanbob. We'll end the route in the city of Osh.
DAY BY DAY
Osh — Lenin Peak Base Camp
10:00 – Departure from Osh

We’ve just started, and already we’re on one of the most beautiful roads in the country. It’s hard to believe that on the way to the 7,000-meter peak, we’ll travel on perfectly smooth asphalt through giant, colorful mountains of epic scale and cross two stunning passes. During the descent from the Taldyk Pass, we’ll see an endless icy ridge, 5,000–7,000 meters high, stretching infinitely in both directions. From Sary-Mogol to Lenin Peak is 25 km, and with every kilometer, the giant massif will loom larger and larger above us.

20:00 – Dinner. Overnight in yurts — as comfortable as possible for this location. Elevation 3,200 m.
Lenin Peak Base Camp
07:00 – Breakfast. May the gods forgive us for such an early breakfast.

We rub our eyes, and above us towers a giant rising 4 km into the sky. Lenin Peak is incredible, and our yurt camp is located near the scattered Tulpar-Köl lakes. We’ll chase dawn and sunset reflections on the water. During the day, we’ll take a walk through Onion Meadow, watching marmots and ground squirrels. Maybe we’ll even climb a high viewpoint with you. The most important thing is — we don’t go anywhere, we just walk all day.

19:30 – Dinner. Overnight at the yurt camp.
Lenin Peak — Arslanbob
07:00 – Breakfast

Early start! Today we drive back. We’ll return the same way, but believe me — when you go the opposite direction, it feels like you’ve never been here before. On this day, we move to the ethnic Uzbek village of Arslanbob (also known as Arstanbap). It is famous because, according to legend, this is where Alexander the Great brought walnuts to Greece — and this forgotten place is considered the homeland of the walnut, which resembles the shape of a brain. We check into a guesthouse run by the most welcoming hosts. The residents of Arslanbob are ethnic Uzbeks, so it will feel like we’ve stepped into a different country. We’ll rest after the drive and enjoy the unreal, peaceful views.

17:00 – Check-in, dinner at 19:00. Overnight at the guesthouse.
Arslanbob
09:00 – Breakfast

We wake up to the stunning Babash-Ata mountain range right before our eyes. It’s only 3,500 meters high, but it feels every bit as grand as Lenin Peak.

Today, we’ll just walk — no driving at all! We’ll pack a picnic and go explore the forests, relaxing to mountain panoramas. We’ll have to put in some effort, but it’s all within reason.

20:00 – Dinner. Overnight at the guesthouse.
Arslanbob — Sary-Chelek
09:00 – Breakfast

Today we head toward Lake Sary-Chelek. Near Tash-Kumyr, we’ll literally land on Mars — and an hour later, we’ll find ourselves in New Zealand. An absolutely unreal change of landscapes. We’ll spend the night in the village of Arkyt, in a small guesthouse 10 km from the lake. Along the way, we’ll stop to see the Tuyuk Canyon — it’s mind-blowing.

18:00 – Check-in, dinner at 19:00. Overnight at the guesthouse.
Sary-Chelek — Toktogul
09:00 – Breakfast

After breakfast, we'll hike to the panorama of five lakes — the trail is easy. The views are breathtaking. There will be a billion colors, countless panoramas, and the road itself is stunningly beautiful.

After a snack, we’re in for a drive of mind-blowing beauty — the Naryn River Canyon, followed by the simply incredible Toktogul Reservoir. Masterpieces created by both nature and humankind. Many beautiful photo stops await.

19:00 – Check into a new hotel in Toktogul, dinner
Toktogul — Kyzyl-Oy
09:00 – Breakfast

In the morning, we walk to a viewpoint overlooking the Toktogul Reservoir. Anyone can manage the path — nothing too difficult. Then we’re in for the Chychkan Gorge, the Ala-Bel Pass (3,200 m), and the giant green jailoo — the largest in the country — the Suusamyr Valley. The number of unforgettable names just doubled. Lots of gazing and photo stops.

The final stop of the day will be one of our favorite places — the hidden, godforsaken village of Kyzyl-Oy, nestled in a bowl of red mountains on the banks of the most beautiful river in Kyrgyzstan, the Kök-Meren.

We’ll walk to a beautiful sunset location.

19:00 – Dinner. Overnight at a guesthouse on the riverbank.
Kyzyl-Oy — Son-Kul
09:00 – Breakfast

If we were too lazy to go to the sunset viewpoint in the evening, we’ll go in the morning — because the panorama is absolutely worth it. We’ll pack up and drive along the Kök-Meren River, soaking in the landscapes of northern Argentina, and then take the new Bishkek–Osh road, where we’ll see the stunning Khan Salyk rock.

By sunset, we’ll arrive at Lake Son-Kul — a piece of Tibet, as we call it. The sunsets here are the best.

19:00 – Dinner. Overnight at a yurt camp on the lakeshore.
Son-Kul — Southern Shore of Issyk-Kul
09:00 – Breakfast

We’ll watch the sunrise over the lake, and after breakfast, we’ll head up to the viewpoint. Just a neighboring hill, but it’s not an easy walk — after all, we’re at an altitude of 3,020 meters. But the view is absolutely worth it — a vast blue lake surrounded by a ring of mountains.

Then we’ll head toward the most famous place in Kyrgyzstan — Issyk-Kul. But we’re not going to the popular northern shore; we’re going to the southern shore, to a brand-new glamping site where there will be no one else but us. A fantastic place — like Death Valley, but right next to one of the most beautiful bodies of water.

19:00 – Dinner. Overnight at a great glamping site on the shore of Issyk-Kul.
Southern Shore, Skazka (Fairy Tale Canyon)
09:00 – Breakfast

This day we dedicate to staying put — no driving! We’ve had enough transfers. Today we’ll swim in the lake, watch an eagle hunting show, eat well, and simply sunbathe. Because you’re in the most beautiful place in the country, with no one around but you!

19:00 – Dinner. Overnight at a great glamping site on the shore of Issyk-Kul.
Bishkek
We head to Bishkek / Tamchi Airport — the drive takes 3–5 hours. And even this transfer will be beautiful.
